Pastor who prophesied Mugabe’s death in court

A Zimbabwean pastor who prophesied that President Robert Mugabe will die on 17 October this year appeared in court today and was remanded to tomorrow.

Patrick Mugadza was arrested on Monday and argues that he did not commit any offence as he merely said what he was told by God.

It used to be an offence to insult Zimbabwe’s President but this was scrapped by the Constitutional Court in 2013 when it ruled that the offence of undermining the authority of the President ran counter to the freedom of expression enshrined in the national constitution.

Mugabe turns 93 next month and he has laughed off predictions about his death saying on this he has beaten Jesus Christ because Jesus died once and resurrected once while he has died several times and has resurrected.
