Developers breaching agreements

Almost all private housing developers in Bulawayo are breaching terms of their agreements of sale with the Bulawayo City Council in one way or the other, according to the latest minutes from the municipality.

Most of the developers are selling stands in contravention of their agreement with the council.

The council insists that developers should sell houses to people on its housing waiting list, but developers are selling houses to anyone with cash.

In most cases the council says developers should only sell the houses when complete, but some developers are selling undeveloped stands to individuals and then using the money to build the houses.

The council has named three developers – Habek Enterprises, Bopse Land Developers and Project Management, and Turnkey Projects – which have been allocated stands in Pumula South.
