Zimbabwe relaxes lockdown restrictions to allow people to access money from abroad

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe today said Zimbabweans will be allowed to access money sent to them from abroad from Wednesday, 8 April.

Money Transfer Agencies operating from retail outlets will be open during the same opening hours as the retail outlets while those at banks will operate only three days a week from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9am to 3pm.

Money transferred after the lockdown on 30 March has been locked at the agencies.

Remittances are one of Zimbabwe’s major sources of foreign currency.
