Zimbabwe coronavirus recovery rate now at 94%

Zimbabwe still has more than 700 active cases of coronavirus but its recovery rate has risen to 94 percent from a low of 54% in January when the country was hit by a second wave of the pandemic following the Christmas break.

Zimbabwe and South Africa have said they are going to tighten restrictions on movement at Easter which begins on Thursday.

There were 17 new cases and no deaths today. Cases now stand at 36 839 and deaths at 1 520.

Fourteen people recovered raising the total to 34 617.

The number of active cases rose slightly to 702 with cases in Harare going up to 447, those in Bulawayo dropping to 119 and Matebeleland North went up to 50.

All the other seven provinces have less than 20 cases each.

Vaccination slowed down today with 1 240 getting the first jab and 1 231 the second.

So far 69 751 have received the first dose and 11 859 the second.
