Three kingpins of the G40 faction of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front, Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo, youth leader Kudzanayi Chipanga and youth commissar Innocent Hamandishe appeared in court today facing various charges.

Chombo is accused of corruption and abuse of office. His bail application will be heard on Monday.

Chipanga is accused of publishing or communicating false statements prejudicial to the state.

Hamandishe is facing kidnapping charges and was remanded to 8 December.

The three say they were picked up in 15 November when the military announced its intervention but the State says they were arrested on Thursday.
