Manicaland records first coronavirus cases as total for Zimbabwe jumps to 149

Manicaland today recorded its first coronavirus cases as nine people who returned from Mozambique and were in quarantine tested positive.

Seven others who returned from South Africa and one from the United Kingdom also tested positive bringing today’s total to 17 and the total for Zimbabwe so far to 149.

The number of returnees who have tested positive this week alone now stands at 92.

Only one province, Mashonaland Central, has no coronavirus case.

Three people, two from Harare and one from Mashonaland East, have also recovered raising the number of those who have recovered to 28.

There are now 117 active cases.

Zimbabwe has so far tested 40 847 people.

Globally there are now 5.9 million cases with 360 000 deaths.

Almost 2.6 million have recovered.
