Movement for Democratic Change Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa, who is challenging the presidential election results of 30 July, has congratulated his legal team for a superb job and says the world now knows the truth.
In a twitter message after the hearing of the case closed, Chamisa said: “Praise be to God! Our esteemed Constitutional Court has just heard our solid case on the theft of the people’s vote. I congratulate our ‘A’ legal team led by Adv T.Mpofu for a superb job. The world now knows the truth. What remains is for justice to be done.#Godisinit.”
The case took the whole day today but judgment was reserved until Friday at 2pm.
While Chamisa had claimed to have won the elections all along and wanted to be declared the winner, Mpofu asked that the election be invalidated.
If the election is invalidated, a fresh election has to be held in 60 days.
If the results are upheld, Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Zimbabwe African National Union will be sworn in on Sunday.
