Chamisa case dismissed, Mnangagwa declared winner

The Constitutional Court has dismissed the election challenge by Movement for Democratic Change leader Nelson Chamisa and declared Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Zimbabwe African Union-Patriotic Front the winner.

The Court said that Chamisa failed to file his application on time but the court had decided to hear the merits of the case because of its pubic importance.

Chamisa had, however, failed to prove the allegations he made about rigging.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba said the decision was unanimous, which meant that all the nine judges agreed.

Mnangagwa has to be sworn in by Sunday.
