Bulawayo loses another person to coronavirus, death toll now 65

One more person from Bulawayo died of coronavirus today raising the death toll for the city to 65 and that for the nation to 255.

The number of active cases in the city, however, dropped to 94 after it recorded seven new cases and 14 recoveries.

There were 49 new cases today, 29 of them returning residents from South Africa. This pushed the number of active cases in Matebeleland South to 40 while those in Harare rose to 69.

Zimbabwe has recorded 8 610 cases to date.

A total of 8 040 people have recovered, 17 of them today.

There are now 315 active cases.

Globally, the number of cases has risen to 51.6 million. This includes 1.28 million deaths, 36.3 million recoveries and 14 million active cases.

Italy could become the 10th country with more than one million cases any time since it has just over 995 000 cases.
