Bulawayo coronavirus death toll continues to rise as four more die

The coronavirus death toll in Bulawayo continued to rise as four people died in the city yesterday and one in Masvingo raising the death toll for the second city to 78 and that for Masvingo to seven.

Thirty people have died of coronavirus in Zimbabwe so far this month and 22 of them were from Bulawayo. The national death toll is now 273.

There were 88 new cases yesterday and only 23 recoveries. The cumulative total is now 9 308 and the total number of recoveries 8 288.

The number of active cases rose to 747 cases with 216 being in Bulawayo and 195 in Matebeleland North. There was also a slight increase in the number of cases in Harare which now has 84 active cases.

Zimbabwe and the World Health Organisation have declared November 23-30 Africa mask week and are encouraging the public to always wear a mask, maintain social distance and always wash heir hands.

Globally, the number of cases now stands at 59.5 million. It includes 1.4 million deaths, 41.2 million recoveries and 17 million active cases.
