2 die as Harare records highest number of new coronavirus cases for third day running

Two Zimbabweans, one from Manicaland and another from Masvingo, died of coronavirus today as Harare recorded the highest number of new cases for the third day running today.

Zimbabwe’s death toll now stands at 320.

There were 174 new cases, 97 of them in Harare, pushing the cumulative total to 12 325.

There were only 40 recoveries, 29 of them in Bulawayo.

Some 10 024 people have so far recovered but there are still  1 981 active cases -516 of them in Bulawayo, 435 in Harare and 308 in Matebeleland South.

Globally the number of cases has risen to 77 million.  These include 1.7 million deaths, 54 million recoveries and 221.3 million active cases.

Peru is likely to become the 16th country with a million cases. It currently has nearly 996 000 cases but only 28 000 are active.
