Zimbabwe slashes price of diesel to $1.22

The price of diesel in Zimbabwe will be reduced from $1.30 a litre to a maximum of $1.22 from tomorrow.

This is the second fuel price cut since the administration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa came to power on 24 November last year.

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority said the reduction was due to the use of cheaper pipeline transportation as opposed to road and rail.

Zimbabwe has banned the importation of diesel 500 because of its high sulphur content and has settled for diesel 50.

Sales of diesel 500 will be discontinued from 1 May.
