Woman strips to protest US sanctions on Zimbabwe

A Mutare woman is reported to have stripped in front of Unites States ambassador to Zimbabwe Bruce Wharton in protest against United States sanctions on Zimbabwe. According to a Washington newspaper, Sheila Mutsenhu, a strong supporter of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front , took off her clothes to “send a very clear message to the US and its allies that sanctions are hurting ordinary citizens”. Wharton had gone to Mutare to tour US-funded projects but was surrounded by a group of vocal and aggressive protesters at the Turner Memorial Library where he was supposed to give a talk. The United States embassy said the sanctions affected less than 120 individuals but its sanctions law clearly states that the sanctions are also targetted at the country itself as they bar multilateral agencies like the World Bank and the International Monetary Bank, among others, from giving loans to Zimbabwe. “There is no going back in my antics, and what you witnessed is just small. Bigger things are coming because enough is enough,” Mutsenhu said.
