The University of Zimbabwe vice-chancellor Levi Nyagura was today granted $200 bail for allegedly facilitating the conferment of a doctorate degree to former first lady Grace Mugabe.

He was remanded to 5 March but said he will challenge his placement on remand because the facts he is charged with do not disclose an offence.

According to the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation magistrate Florence Mazhambe said Nyagura should not interfere with Professor Gandidzanwa, Doctor Sadomba, Dr Mandizvidza, Dr Ruparaganda, Dr Musevenzi and Professor Mugani who are witnesses in the case.

Grace Mugabe was awarded the PhD in 2014 to graduate together with her main rival at the time, former Vice-President Joice Mujuru who was also awarded a doctorate degree.
