UN “No”, EU “Perhaps”

The United Nations today said it could not disown Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the UN as requested by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai because the ambassador Chitsaka Chipaziwa was properly accredited on June 28. But the European Union said it might reject the appointment of the ambassador to the EU and called on members of the EU: Italy, Sweden and Switzerland to do the same. There are fears that Zimbabwe could reciprocate as it argues that these were not appointments but reassignments.
