Former political firebrand Edgar Tekere died today after a battle with cancer. Tekere who was at one time President Robert Mugabe’s number two was expelled from the party in 1988 when he disagreed with ZANU-PF’s drive to introduce a one-party state. He also criticised the party for rampant corruption and formed the Zimbabwe Unity Movement to challenge Mugabe in the 1990 presidential elections.
