Reports today that employees of former President Robert Mugabe allegedly stole a briefcase containing $150 000 at his rural home in Zvimba have raised questions among readers of the State-controlled Herald.

Some asked why the old man was keeping so much cash at home. Others said they did not believe that the former President knows about the cash.

Yet others asked, if Mugabe had so much cash at home how about his former colleagues and current government ministers?

Three employees, including a relative Constancia Mugabe, are alleged to have stolen the money between 1 December and 5 January.

They were remanded to 24 January on $2 000 bail each.

President Mugabe has spent most of his time in hospital in Singapore since being forced out of power in November 2017.
