Gweru given $331 00 for roads, says it is too little

The Gweru City Council has received $331 000 from the Zimbabwe Roads Administration Authority (ZINARA) for the rehabilitation of its road network but city fathers say the amount is enough to repair only 20 kilometres out of its network of 1 200km.

“The Zimbabwe Roads Administration Authority has disbursed $331 236 to Gweru City Council for road maintenance. The council is encouraged to acquit for previous disbursements so that more funds are released,” said the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Joram Gumbo in a statement.

Town clerk Ms Elizabeth Gwatipedza said the amount was too little to meet the city’s requirements.
