The newly created Ministry of National Affairs, Employment Creation and Cooperatives, carries a very unusual item under its training centres vote — $600 000 for the commissariat. This item has actually been doubled from last year’s allocation of $300 000 when the vote was under the same item under the then Ministry of Political Affairs.

Other items under this section are $750 000 for consumable stores down from $909 000 last year, $600 000 for provisions up from last year’s $570 000, $280 000 for trainee allowances, down from $170 000.

The new ministry has a total budget allocation of $60.4 million out of which $47.7 million is for salaries, wages and allowances. It is expected, however, that this may be reduced to $40 million as there is an expected saving of $7.7 million.

The Ministry has 3 930 posts.
