Economy to grow at 8.1%

Finance Minister Tendai Biti today revised his growth figures again saying the economy will grow by 8.1 per cent this year due to a revival in the agriculture sector. He initially said the economy would grow by 7.7 percent but revised this down to 5.4 percent.  Biti singled out the performance of the tobacco sector which produced 120 million kilogrammes in the 2009/10 season, double the previous year’s output.
